Vallen’s drawing of a mohawked indigenous warrior in punk gear, appeared as the cover for the last edition of SLASH Magazine, May 1980. Vallen said of his drawing: “I wanted people to think about those who first sported the Mohawk haircut, my drawing was meant as a political provocation.”
