Title: The Artist’s Hand

Vallen rendered his left hand in pencil for this self-portrait inspired by the tradition of artists who created artworks depicting hands. Specifically, his representation was an homage to the German Renaissance artist Albrecht Dürer, whose studies of the human hand infatuated Vallen when he was a young artist.
